A Shaded Garden Border .
The brief for this border was to provide all year round interest as it was part of the front garden, and therefore visible most of the time. The site was mainly shaded by the house for most of the day so planting needed to be chosen carefully.

The planting scheme centred around a Tree Fern (Dicksonia Antarctica) and included grasses as well as perennials. The grasses added height, colour and interesting contrast to the back of the border. Hostas were used to add bulk and strong texture, while Lilly of the Valley, among others, added strong fragrance. Finally, Alliums were spaced throughout the border to add height, colour and interest |
